Kingdom Plantae - Kingdoms Slideshow

Examples of simple species from the plant kingdom

We're going to break plants down into two groups for this slideshow. All plants are in the same kingdom but there are so many species we thought you deserve two slides. This slide is looking at some very basic plants.

The above image shows you examples of mosses, horsetails, and ferns. These are all plants that do not create seeds when they reproduce. Let's look closer at each type of plant.

Mosses and liverworts are nonvascular plants. They don't have a systems of tubes to transport water and nutrients like more advanced plants. Ferns and horsetails are a step up because they have a vascular system. While mosses will always be tiny little plants only an inch high, ferns and horsetails can be as large as trees. That transport system allows all plants to grow in different shapes and heights. None of these species produces seeds. They all have one form of spore or another when its time to reproduce.
